Lone Kelp Stringer

$1,700.00

This 24"x36" oil original is one of my personal favorites. Years ago, before I truly owned my identity as an Artist, I painted this piece. I'd been on a phenomenal offshore fishing trip, and we'd caught 168 fish from a single kelp paddy! I was simply astonished by the shear volume of birds, bait, and gamefish that were relating to this lonely little stringer of kelp. I couldn't help but imagine what it must have looked like to see this from underwater, just before we arrived. Many of my fishing paintings are done from a point of view that 'I wish I could see' the scene from and I'm still inspired to share this perspective today.

I have had opportunities to sell this painting in the past, but declined. I have donated many of my other early works, and am now ready for this one to find it's home. Although I will always paint, I've found that I am more productive when my 'walls are empty'.

"Lone Kelp Stringer" is framed in a simple thin black aluminum frame. I varnished this piece, and the light sheen really adds to the 'underwater feel' of the scene. The scattering baitball, and feeding frenzy could easily be missed if not for a simple little kelp stringer.
