Oil Painting original lighthouse 'A Poem to a Friend'

This piece is an original oil on canvas painting and is 36" x 24". I did this piece in response to a poem written and read to me by a friend as a memorial to a lost friend.
In this painting the plaque memorializes sailors lost at sea. The lighthouses are painted in their natural, nighttime setting, showing how they help sailors by lighting their way home. It was also an interesting way to offset moonlight with the light from the lighthouse. There is an abandoned, older lighthouse on the island, along with the newer lighthouse symbolizing the beacon hope they will continue to give to all those at sea.
